Audyssey Laboratories Ships Sound Equalizer with Balanced I/O : Award-Winning Room Correction Component Integrates with Balanced and Unbalanced Sepa

LOS ANGELES (Business Wire EON) June 11, 2008 -- "MultEQ is recognized as a groundbreaking room correction solution for the home theater market," says Michael Solomon, CEO of Audyssey, "By adding a balanced version of the Sound Equalizer to our product line, consumers with balanced separates systems can receive the added benefit of MultEQ room correction in their homes."

Audyssey is now shipping both the balanced and unbalanced versions of the Sound Equalizer through its network of AV distributors. Professional installers calibrate the Sound Equalizer with the Audyssey Installer Kit, which includes a professionally calibrated microphone and preamp, Audyssey MultEQ Pro software and supporting hardware and documentation.

The Audyssey Sound Equalizer integrates seamlessly with MultEQ Pro, a PC application that enables installation professionals to capture up to 32 points of acoustical information throughout a listening area. Based on these measurements, MultEQ Pro automatically calculates an equalization solution that corrects for time and frequency response problems in the listening area, creating a fully automated surround system setup.

The results of the calibration are stored in the Sound Equalizer to deliver sound as it was intended to every seat in the listening environment, without the distortion or coloration normally added by the room. Professional installers generate a MultEQ Pro certificate, displaying the before and after frequency responses of the system including delay, trim and crossover settings.

The newest Sound Equalizer features eight discreet balanced XLR inputs and outputs, a front panel USB connector and a mini-XLR calibration port for easy access, and is capable of multiple zone assignments. The Sound Equalizer with balanced I/O is currently shipping with an MSRP of $5000.

About Audyssey Laboratories?

Audyssey Laboratories is the industry leader in sound equalization solutions for professional and consumer audio. Established in 2002, Audyssey was founded on a comprehensive understanding of the negative effects of room acoustics on sound reproduction. This landmark study resulted from $6 million of research funds, five years of theoretical and experimental work, the resources of the prestigious USC Immersive Audio Laboratory, and decades of shared scientific expertise by Audyssey founders Prof. Tomlinson Holman, Prof. Chris Kyriakakis, Dr. Sunil Bharitkar and Philip Hilmes. The resulting groundbreaking acoustical correction technologies provided the basis for Audyssey, which continues to develop new breakthrough technologies in audio signal processing, room acoustics and psychoacoustics.
